Frankie, Issac and the wonderful footballers ...
FRANKIE BATES In the nominations for Courage over Physical Adversity category is Frankie Bates, who was born with half of her left arm missing. Never has this stopped her from being adventurous, lively and entertaining. Nothing ever phases her and she amazes everyone she meets with her bubbly nature and not letting her disability get in the way of doing anything, from riding a bike to cartwheels.
She is a true inspiration to all who cross her path.
Since its launch in April 2016, the Scarborough Athletic Frame Football Club has been well supported and has won some prestigious awards.
The success has been SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC FRAME FOOTBALL CLUB possible because of the courage and determination of the young players and families. The majority of the team is battling an ongoing process of treatment, surgical procedures and often painful physiotherapy sessions for most of their young lives.
They meet every three weeks to pull on an SAFFC shirt for a two-and-a-half hour training session where they are learning new skills and bonding as a team. United in their love for the game and a determination to compete in the way other children their age do, their bravery and commitment continues to serve as the inspiration for the further development of SAFFC. ISSAC BROWN
Also nominated is Issac Brown, who has cerebral palsy. He walks with a frame and sticks while needing to use a wheelchair for longer journeys. He has undergone major surgery from last year in the form of Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery and has worked really hard on his recovery. He endures physio and treatment every week but he never complains and is such a happy little man. His smile is infectious, he is a constant joy and brightens the day of anyone he meets or knows. He is a proud player for Scarborough Athletic frame football team and never lets his disability get in the way of trying any activity. His happy outlook keeps us all going.
