Epic classics, a family blockbuste­r, a Jacques Tati film and a football documentar­y kick off the spring season in the cinema at Scarboroug­h’s Stephen Joseph Theatre.

Hidden Figures tells the true story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe), three African-American women working at NASA.

The Lego Batman Movie follows the DC Comics character as he attempts to overcome his greatest fear to stop the Joker’s latest plan.

To celebrate the fourth annual Scarboroug­h Sci-Fi event, the venue is presenting a one-off screening of Time Bandits.

Hugh Bonneville and Gillian Anderson portray Lord and Lady Mountbatte­n in Gurinder Chadha’s Viceroy’s House which follows the couple through the partition of India in 1947.

Jour de fête was the directoria­l debut of French comedy actor Jacques Tati, who also stars as François the postman who cycles throughout the ‘big day’ when a travelling fair arrives in a small French village. The screening is to celebrate the arrival of Stage 1 of the Tour De Yorkshire in Scarboroug­h on April 28.

The Time of Their Lives stars Joan Collins as a fading movie star who enlists the help of a friend (Pauline Collins) to go to an ex-lover’s funeral in France.

Lawrence of Arabia was David Lean’s masterwor. Peter O’Toole stars as TE Lawrence, who united and led the diverse arab tribes during World War I in order to fight the Turks Films dates and times: Hidden Figures: Friday March 31 at 2.45pm and 7.45pm; Monday April 3, Tuesday April 4 and Wednesday April 5 at 7.45pm; Thursday April 6 at 1.45pm.
