Boro to tackle Leeds United in home pre-season friendly clash
Former Athletic star Beadle poised to return to club for training
Scarborough Athletic will host Leeds United in a preseason clash.
The Championship club will send over a team to tackle Steve Kittrick’s side on Saturday July 29, kicking off at 3pm.
This is the fifth friendly Boro have arranged, following on from games against Sheffield United, Bridlington Town, Pickering Town and a Scarborough Saturday League Rep Team.
The first tickets will go on sale on Saturday June 3 at from 12pm until 3pm Friday June 9.
These can be purchased between 10am to 3pm (excluding Sunday) from Bits Embroidery in The Market Vaults, St Helens Square in Scarborough.
Boro will also have tickets on sale at the Scarborough Sports Village Open Day on Saturday June 10.
From Tuesday June 13 tickets will be available from the club’s on-line shop.
Boro will be monitoring ticket sales closely and if the demand is high the club may need to designate the Leeds clash as an all-ticket match.
Meanwhile, Boro boss Steve Kittrick has invited Jimmy Beadle down to the club’s preseason sessions.
Kittrick spoke to the former Scarborough FC, Boro, York and Whitby Town midfielder last week and he will be joining the club’s roll call when training gets underway on July 1.
Beadle struck 20 goals in his last season for Boro, before moving on to Tadcaster and spending much of the last term playing locally for West Pier and Trafalgar.
Kittrick said: “I’ve had a good chat with Jimmy and he’s been invited down to our pre-season training.
“It is up to him from here, Jimmy can be as good as Jimmy wants to be.
“If he can get back to how he was the last time he played for the club then we are onto a winner.”
