“More than 30 organisations have already booked space on Westborough”

The Rotary Club of Scarborough Cavaliers is busy organising the town’s Community Fair which will be held next month.

The fair, now in its 15th year, will be held on Saturday 12 August from 10am and organisers believe it will be the best yet.

This popular annual event enables local charity and community groups to raise their profile with the public and generate much-needed cash for their respective organisations.

The Mayor and Mayoress Councillor Martin and Cherry Smith will be paying a visit to the fair and will select the ‘best dressed’ stall on the day.

Some of the charities booked so far include Scarborough Multiple Sclerosis Society; First Light Trust; Scarborough MENCAP; Guide Dogs for the Blind; and Scarborough RNLI.

Rotary President Chris Case said: “More than 30 organisations have already booked space on Westborough but we have room for more if groups still want to join the party.

“It’s always a real treat on the day to see what each organisation does to attract visitors to their stalls, from terrific tombolas to creative crafts, with the odd surprise item to tempt customers to spend their money.

“Organisations only have to pay £20 for their stall, with the Rotary Club arranging the tables along the length of Westborough. Anyone interested in taking a stall should contact Lyndsay Chamberlain on 01723 870310 or email her on lyndsay. chamberlain@ coberhill.co.uk.”

The Rotary Club of Scarborough Cavaliers will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2018.

The club is dual membership with almost 40 male and female members meeting every Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in the Function Room of the Downe Arms Country House Inn.
