Invaluable support for youth project

Young people on The Prince’s Trust Programme have unveiled a community project which will benefit people using the Rainbow Centre, Scarborough.

As part of the 12-week programme the team the project aims to help with a range of issues including the homeless, families in crisis and individuals facing challenges that need help and support with. The Rainbow Centre sees up to 100 people a day.

The team of 10 young people got stuck in to renovating the sheds and garden area which people can use and have easy access to. Raised beds have been built, sheds painted and re-roofed.

Other businesses have helped to make the project successful. Plants, tools and roof felt have been donated by YH Training, Hackness Cleaning Services, Foxholes garage, Blue Raptor, B&Q, Irton Garden Centre, MKM Scarborough, Boyes, Burniston Nurseries, Deans Garden Centre and Proudfoots.

All have made an invaluable contribution to the success of the project.

The team raised money to undertake the project in the form of a 15-mile sponsored walk. This enabled them to buy the paint and extra tools that were needed to add to the donations of local businesses.

The Prince’s Trust programme is led by YH Training and gives young people between the ages of 16 and 25 the opportunity to learn new skills and undertake qualifications.
