Dowson leads Scarboro’ contingent at Easter Dash
Nine tackle Five-Mile Dash at Bridlington as Rhona also impresses
Nine club members competed in the annual Bridlington Easter Five-Mile Dash.
Michael Dowson was first home for the club in 10th overall of 267 finishers.
He was closely followed by Rhona Marshall, who was 13th overall and the first female finisher, and who led the women’s team who were first team.
Rhona’s mother Sue Haslam was the second scorer for the team after finishing up in a most notable seventh and first Over-60.
Jo Ireland closed in for the team in 21st and Linda Hinchliffe followed in 67th
Duncan Smart led the remaining men in 14th overall and third Over-45.
Paul Thompson was next to finish in 20th overall and was first Over-55. James Marshall followed in 39th male and Brian Rutt was 90th male.
In the one-mile Easter Scurry Run for children, 10-year-old Gemma Tozer finished in third place overall, and was closely followed by her nine-year-old brother Alfie Tozer, who was fourth overall and second boy.

ske Mermaid 10-kilometre
road race which attracts top runners from North Yorkshire and far afield, and starts at the Mermaid Public House, with a finish on the sea front.
Glyn Hewitt was led the club’s quartet when finishing up in 67th overall of 246 in 42 minutes 3 seconds.
He was followed by Paul Chapman, who has clearly benefited from a good crosscountry season to record a personal best time of 42 minutes 30 seconds when finishing 72nd overall.
The evergreen Neil Scruton was 74th and most notably first Over-70 in 43 minutes12 seconds and has been subsequently ranked number one the very latest Yorkshire Rankings and sixth in the United Kingdom list as a result.
Lorraine Hewitt ran well to finish 36th female in 53 minutes 3 seconds
Just 48 hours after an Over-55 win at the Easter Dash, Paul Thompson competed in the Elvington Flyer 10-mile road race. The race was a commemorative event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force and started and finished on the former base’s runway.
Paul flew round the course in a personal best time of 68 minutes 21 seconds, and his overall sixth place finish and first Over-55 place was rewarded by heading the Yorkshire Rankings for his age group.
