A64 near Malton to close on Friday

-

The first of a series of weekend closures on the A64 near Malton is coming up. From 8pm on Friday to 6am on Monday the road between Crambeck and Low Hutton will be closed for essential maintenance works. This will be followed by two other weekend closures in November. Scarborough-based Animated Objects is hosting a series of workshops in the lead up to Remembrance weekend.

As part of Yorkshire Coast Remembers, Lee Threadgold and Dawn Dyson-Threadgold, who run the creative project, are holding poppy lantern making workshops on Saturday October 20 at Scalby Library from 10 am to noon and then at Scarborough Library from 1pm to 2.30pm.

These are sessions for families who would like to make a lantern and join in with the community lantern parade on Saturday November 10 to mark the centenary of the Armistice.

The community lantern parade is to take place from the Grand Hotel at 5pm and parade down to the Spa where there is to be a service of remembrance.

Lantern workshops are free to attend, participants are asked to bring a clean empty two-litre pop bottle; all other materials will be supplied.
