Sam Martin-Turnbull droppeda remarkable six stone through hard work at her local Weight Watchers group to achieve her target weight over several months, inspiring her to pass on her knowledge to others.

And now that she’s running her own class, Sam has pulled together some top tips for autumn slimmers based on her own experiences of going through the weight loss process.

“Make sure to prepare for success,” she said.

“You need to make a healthy lunch in the evening after dinner when your stomach is full, and your intentions are strong.

“Eat at the same time every day to avoid getting too hungry and falling back on unhealthy snacks.

“Don’t deprive yourself and find a middle ground between treating yourself and totally avoiding eating the things you love.

“Be honest with yourself and set yourself goals you know you can achieve.

“Get the kitchen scales out and keep an eye on pack advice to keep yourself on track. Make the correct portion size the norm.

“Finally, beat the boredom and ask yourself ‘am I bored or hungry?’

“If you’re not sure, you’re probably bored.

“Make a deal with yourself not to act on hunger pangs for thirty minutes while you find something to do to distract yourself instead.”

Sam’s Weight Watchers classes take place on Tuesday evenings at the Evron Centre on John Street, at 5.30pm.
