Beadle named as Kelly’s assistant

-

Darren Kelly has appointed club stalwart Jimmy Beadle as his number two at Scarborough Athletic.

Kelly had been on the hunt for a new assistant manager after the departure of Dave Merris and he’s handed the role to Beadle, who will also be available for selection as a player.

“The assistant manager job is massive to me,” said club stalwart Beadle.

“I wasn’t really expecting it I suppose, but I was absolutely delighted to be asked - I’m really happy.

“I can’t wait to get out on the training ground and getting started again, get all the lads together and get going now.

“I’m really looking forward to it and embracing this opportunity.”

Beadle is also hoping to contribute on the pitch next season and is looking forward to linking up with former teammates Ryan Blott and Michael Coulson.

“We did alright back in the day and we’re not exactly too old just yet, so I don’t see why not,” added Beadle.

“Hopefully I can contribute on the field too.

“I want to get fit in pre-season and see if I can help out next season.”

Beadle is looking forward to learning from Kelly in the future and will be exploring the chance to take his coaching badges in the near future too.

“I’ve had a look at the badges in recent years, if I am going to be taking this role seriously that is something I will need to look at,” he added.

“I’m looking forward to learning from him, he was a breath of fresh air last season around the place.

“It seems like there’s positive times ahead and hopefully we can bring the glory times back to the club.”
