Jai Courtney stars in this new drama about strangers whose lives collide at an immigration detention centre in the middle of the Australian desert. We also meet a young father escaping a dead-end job, and a bureaucrat running out of time to contain a national scandal. The cast includes Yvonne Strahovski, who was rather good in 24: Live Another

Day, The Predator and The Handmaid’s Tale; Asher Keddie, who propped up The Cry mini-series; Fayssal Bazzi, Marta Dusseldorp, and the more familiar Dominic West and Cate Blanchett.

Michael McIntyre’s Big Laughs

BBC One, 8.15pm, Saturday

In the final show of this special compilation series, Michael looks back at more unforgettable moments from the first five seasons of his Big Show, which began in 2016. There’s more amazing and hilarious Send to Alls from Baby Spice Emma Bunton and football legend, pundit and ex-Strictly star Robbie Savage. The Princess of Pop herself Kylie Minogue has a big surprise for some karaoke-singing audience members in Kylie-oake, and Michael turns one audience member’s grandpa into a social media star.

Sky Premiere, various times, from Saturday

ITV Racing: The Derby

ITV, 1.25pm, Saturday

As with Royal Ascot last month, the vast crowds that usually descend upon Epsom for the Derby will not be present this year. Nevertheless, there should still be high drama on the course itself when the greatest flat race in the world takes place this afternoon.

Open to three-year-old colts, the Derby is run over a distance of one mile, four furlongs, and with an incredible prize pot of £1.5 million, it remains Britain’s richest and most prestigious race. Anthony Van Dyck won last year’s event, and the likes of English King and Kameko were among the ante-post contenders looking to succeed acclaimed trainer Aidan O’Brien’s Irish thoroughbred today.
