Musician Dave Thompson has used Scarborough as a backdrop for a video promoting his lockdown song Human Contact.

Some of the town’s most picturesque settings are used in the video – sweeping from South Bay to North Bay.

Landmarks include South Bay, Spa Bridge and the harbour and lighthouse.

There are also shots on the arcades, Oasis Cafe and Marine Drive.

“Human Contact is a lockdown song about the recent Covid-19 restrictions leading to a lack of social interactions and loneliness,” said Dave, who has been in lockdown at his home in Eastfield.

“It’s about yearning for the life and freedoms we previously had and hoping for a happier future.”

It was released at the weekend to celebrate the more social freedoms enjoyed in England.

“It reminds us just how important it is to care for our friends and family in these tricky times,” said Dave, who is seen in the video skimming stones in South Bay.

He wrote the song quickly as a reflection of the times the coronavirus pandemic has brought.

Dave has been working from his studio called Hyperbright and giving lessons in guitar via Zoom.

He plays live gigs with a mixture of covers and original material.

“I have been a sideman in bands, playing guitar and doing backing vocals but got fed up spending every weekend in a van.

“I just wanted to do different things and be the front man when lockdown started,” he said.

“I am now looking forward to moving on and doing different things.”

He teaches guitar at Innovation Music in St John’s Road, Scarborough.

The school is run by Peter Buckby and was due to reopen this week.
