Library to reopen, with option to take ‘pot luck’ on books!
Book-lovers will be able to visit a Scarborough village library once more.
Newby and Scalby Library is planning to reopen on Monday July 13, with some new restrictions in place.
The library will not be open for browsing. Instead, people will be able to choose and reserve books from the online catalogue to pick up.
Alternatively, they will be able to call or email to request the kind of books they like. A volunteer will handpick a selection that meets their request and arrange a convenient time for them to collect the books. As usual, books can be borrowed for up to three weeks.
People can also use a new ‘pot-luck’ service, which offers specially selected book bundles to borrow. These will include four books for adults or six for children.
There will be a one-way system in place, hand sanitiser provided on entry and people will be requested to observe social distancing guidance.
The library team plans to schedule visits to avoid overcrowding.
The IT area will be open on a restricted basis if booked in advance and the library garden will be open. Returned books will be quarantined.
To borrow items or book a computer, call 01609 534059 during opening hours or email nslbookorders@ gmail.com.
Thenewtemporaryopening hours will be 10am until 2pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Initially, the library toilets and coffee machine will be unavailable. No charges will be made to avoid cash transactions but donations will be gratefully received.
