I sat right down and wrote a letter

-

There’s one garden populated by gnomes and every time we pass we wave to the lady who lives there.

I would like to think society will change as a result of Covid-19 – less greed, more compassion.

One thing I do know is that culture is an essential ingredient to our recovery. We have the assets and expertise to make an important impact on our community’s recovery.

There is an exhibition of vintage seaside posters on at Woodend until September 27. The venue is open seven days a week and entry is free.

Andrew has found ways to be creative and said “the eccentric side of me manifests itself in a passion for clothes and ships.

“The Americans would call me a ‘ship geek’.

“My fellow ship lovers have been doing some fabulous research and some of the images that have been unearthed – remember I’m a visual learner – have been amazing. So lockdown is giving people the opportunity to indulge in their hobbies and interests. “Sharing interests such as these with people all over the world is also an extremely pleasurable way of communicating.

“One thing I did do was write my eldest daughter, Mimi, a proper letter.

“That was something I haven’t done for years. It was her 18th birthday and I found some vintage letterhead that belonged to my great grandmother, also called Mimi. She lived in a big house in Headlingley in Leeds called Highfield. And, do you know, it was such a refreshing change to communicate like that.”
