Armed Forces online event gets 120,000 views

-

Thousands of people have viewed Scarborough Borough Council’s virtual content to mark Armed Forces Day 2020.

The event was taken online after the real-life celebrations had to be postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Every day for a week new content was added to the dedicated Scarborough Armed Forces Day website.

Figures show the site had almost 23,000 views in just a few days. A Facebook page achieved more than 5,000 views and 4,500 likes.

Live coverage of the Armed Forces Day flag raising ceremony at Scarborough Castle and flypast from the Red Arrows secured the greatest coverage.

Cllr Tony Randerson, Scarborough Borough Council cabinet member with responsibility for delivering the Armed Forces Day event, said: “Next year’s event will be spectacular.”
