What to expect when Isle of Wight Festival returns

he ongoing coronaviru­s pandemic led to the cancellati­on of many largescale gatherings from sporting events to music festivals

The 2020 run of the Isle of Wight Festival was cancelled, with organisers saying that the move was “unavoidabl­e given the current status”.

However, organisers have said it will be back “stronger than ever in 2021”.

As tickets for next year’s event go on sale, this is everything you need to know about the Isle of Wight Festival 2021, including the full line-up and how to purchase tickets.

The next Isle of Wight festival will take place from Thursday June 17 to Sunday June 20 2021. The festival is held at Seaclose Park, Newport.

Organiser John Giddings said: “We’re thrilled that we will welcome most of the artists booked for 2020, plus a few special additions, to next year’s festival.”

Lionel Richie, one of the big names performing at the 2021 event, said: “I was really excited to be playing at Isle of Wight Festival this summer and like so many of us I was very sad that so many things have had to be delayed. Obviously everyone’s health and safety comes first.

“I’m now looking forward to it even more and know we’ll all have such an incredible night of partying together.”

The bill for Thursday June 17 includes Happy Mondays, Foor, Natasha Bedingfiel­d and Are You Experience­d?.

The main stage on Friday June 18 hosts Lionel Richie, Lewis Capaldi, Jess Glynne, Becky Hill, You Me At Six and Lona.

The Big Top on Friday June 18 presents Primal Scream, Shed Seven, Sigma (DJ Set), Joy Crookes, The Snuts and Donna Missal.

The Saturday June 19 main stage line-up comprises Snow Patrol, Pete Tong & the Heritage Orchestra presenting Ibiza Classics, Sam Fender, James Arthur, All Saints, Lightning Seeds, Roachford, Rothwell and Asylums.

TJune 19 hosts shows by Kaiser Chiefs, Example, Sam Feldt, Maximo Park, The Manor, Ella Henderson, Dylan John Thomas and Rebecca Hurn.

On Sunday June 20 the main stage bill consists of Duran Duran, The Script, Supergrass, Carly Rae Jepsen, James Vincent McMorrow, Seasick Steve and Megan McKenna.

The same day the Big Top plays host to Razorlight, Mavis Staples, Masie Peters, The Alarm, New Rules, Lyra and Balcony.

Tickets were made available for purchase from 9am on Monday 15 June.

You can buy tickets for the Isle of Wight Festival 2021 from the Ticketmast­er website here. There are different kinds of tickets available for purchase at different prices.

Weekend tickets get you access to the festival every day.

Weekend adult tickets cost £197.60, weekend student tickets cost £181.50 and weekend teen tickets cost £176.20.

There are also Friday, Saturday and Sunday day tickets, which only permit you entry to the festival on each specific day. These tickets cost £75.20 each, with no student or teen discounts available.

To get to the Isle of Wight Festival, you’ll need to get yourself to one of the four mainland ferry ports at Southampto­n, Portsmouth, Lymington or Southsea.

You’ll be able to reach the Isle of Wight after a short crossing from these ports via ferry, and from there you’ll be able to make your way to the festival by a variety of different travel options.
