A Welcome For All

Chill out with some feline therapy at this cat cafe…

-

FROM IT to high tea! Well, that’s a close enough description of Gale Ledger’s change in circumstances. After 35 years in the IT industry, she is now proud owner of Cats Meow Kittea Café, and custodian of nine cats who have made the café their home.

“We do coffees, teas, and cold drinks, and supply laughter, chat, cat cuddles and a warm welcome,” she says. “We are not a café in the normal sense, but it is the term everyone seems to use.

“At Cats Meow, the only food we serve is cake. You come in for one hour, drink your tea, eat your cake and play with the cats.”

The names of the cats run off the tongue like the credits of a Disney animation – Itsy and Bitsy, Teeny and Weeny with Huey, Louie, Dewey, Daisy and Maisy completing the feline line-up.

However, it’s more than just a place to make friends with a moggy. “The café has links with care homes and adult residential homes,” continues Gayle, “and we also work with community groups.

“We currently have a volunteer with learning difficulties working with us. Our café is beneficial to families with autistic or dementia members because of our calm and cosy environment. We also have wheelchair access.”

If you feel like some feline company along with some coffee and cake, you’ll find the café a whisker away from Corn Exchange Road in Stirling’s city centre. www.catsmeowkitteacafe.co.uk
