Top Night!
REGULAR readers are well aware that The Scots Magazine is the oldest in the world still in publication. Founded in 1739, February 9 marks our 280th anniversary. The list of writers who have graced these pages is like a Who’s Who of Scottish literature – Burns, Scott, Boswell, Hogg.
It’s a remarkable magazine, with a special place in the nation’s cultural heritage. We’ll be celebrating our anniversary in a variety of ways in coming months – keep an eye on future issues for details.
We’ve already enjoyed an amazing start to our year, scooping two trophies at the Scottish Magazine Awards.
Organised by the Professional Publishers Association Scotland, the awards are the magazine equivalent of the Oscars. Pictured above are the winners from the night. They’re some of the best creative talents in the country, representing the incredibly broad range of superb publications produced in Scotland.
While I was honoured to be named Consumer Magazine Editor Of The Year, in truth I’m just lucky to lead an incredibly talented team of writers, graphic designers, picture researchers and sub-editors.
I’m sure you’ll agree that their passion and dedication is evident on every page of this fabulous magazine. They make my job a joy.
Our other award was for Best Use Of Social Media – thanks to the hard work of our online guru Katrina Patrick, and testament to how the world’s oldest magazine has been re-invented in the digital age.
Of course, the most important people in making The Scots Magazine the success it is are you, our loyal readers. Almost 200,000 of you – from all over the world – read our pages every month.
We thank all of you for your support. @Scotsmaged
