What you need:

A good tent – lightweight yet able to stand up to the elements. A windproof stove. Lightweight sleeping bag – the warmer the better – and a sleeping mat. OS Map of the area and compass.

A head torch, and back-up torch. Enough water and food to last the whole trip. A little spade – no toilets means dig your own.
