Erland Cooper – Hether Blether, Phases, out now The final part of a triptych of albums inspired by Erland Cooper’s native Orkney celebrates the land and the people of the islands through compositio­n, field recordings, dialect, storytelli­ng and poetry.

The Polychrome­s – Polychrome, self-released, out now. Written and recorded in lockdown from their homes, Gareth Perrie and Adam Ross ruminate on digital technology and its impact on our lives.

Scotland in the 80s – The Dreary Heather Club, self-released, out now. A new project by two old friends from Fife, after vocalist-guitarist Mike Lennie returned to a housebound Scotland after eight years in Helsinki. Self-described “slow, sad pop songs and sound collages”, with a hint of cheeky nostalgia.

Dàimh – Stopped in our Tracks, self-released, out now. This year, the Gaelic trad-folk five-piece had planned to record a song and film a video at each touring location. Stopped in their tracks by Covid-19, they have released the first three songs as a digital EP.

Martha Ffion - Nights to Forget, Lost Map, August 14. Second album from Irish-born, Glasgow-based Scottish Album of the Year Award-nominated singer-songwriter pairs wry observatio­ns on modern living with hazy, nostalgic pop.

The Muldoons - Made for Each Other, LNFG Hive, out now. A nostalgic debut album about “growing up, getting drunk and falling in and out of love every week” from this Paisley five-piece.

Jane Blanchard - Still, Again, Gerry Loves, out now. This EP is Jane Blanchard’s first new music since relocating to Scotland from Fredericto­n, New Brunswick, where she founded and still directs the city’s Flourish music and arts festival.
