Grange forced to ring changes

Eastern Premiership

- GARY HEATLY

CSL EASTERN Premiership leaders Mazars Grange have been forced into three changes for this afternoon’s home match with Falkland.

The Edinburgh side have been flying in the league and the Scottish Cup but in midweek lost their first match of the season in all competitions.

They were beaten by Watsonians in the semi-finals of the Murgitroyd Masterton Trophy on Tuesday by 40 runs.

And in that T20 encounter Iain Worth and Will Edwards suffered injuries meaning they are out this weekend.

With George Munsey away on Scotland duty it means captain Andrew Brock makes three changes to the XI that won at Aberdeenshire seven days ago, John Blain, Tom Foulds and teenager Fin Mccreath coming in.

With Munsey away his fellow opening batsman Caiden Lang will look to give his side’s innings a good start. The South African-born wicketkeeper is loving his first season at the club and said: “There is a great bunch of boys at the club and with John Blain having come on board as player/coach this season he is really good at making sure we are prepared as well as we can be for each match that is coming up.”

Falkland travel to the capital having been bowled out for just 52 last week against Carlton, but they are still sitting in mid-table.

Second-placed Carlton, meanwhile, make the trip to Myreside to take on Watsonians. With Preston Mommsen and Ali Evans away on Scotland duty, youngster Olly Brown is handed a debut for the visitors while Ruari Macpherson also comes into the XI.

Watsonians, who have only won once in the league to date, have allrounder Brendan O’connell back in the XI. Teenager Andrew Cockburn also comes into the side.

Third-placed Arbroath have Calvin Burnett unavailable so Craig Cameron comes in for the home game with Stoneywood-dyce. The visitors are missing Jan Stander and Andrew Maclaren so in come Michael Hood and Owen Davies.

Adrian Neill returns for Aberdeenshire as they head to Goldenacre to take on Heriot’s. The home side have four players injured or unavailable, so into the side are Chris Acheson, David Ross, Hamish Macleod and Josh Mclean.

Autoecosse Forfarshire travel to RH Corstorphine with skipper Craig Wallace away on Scotland duty along with Michael Leask. RHC have Robert Taylor and Robert Thompson back available.
