Lorry driver escapes from motorway fire

The male driver of a lorry which burst into flames on a motor way managed to jump to safety after spotting the blaze.

He was driving on the northbound carriageway of the A 74( M) near Locker-bi eat about 10.20 am yesterday.

Police said he managed to “jump clear” on to the hard shoulder and escaped injury. Officers closed the road in both directions between junctions 16 and 17 for a time.
