Theflyingportrait bids for a repeat course and distance win in the £10,000 feature race at Perth today.

Trained in Staffordshire by Jennie Candlish, he faces five rivals in the Sodexo Prestige And Events Handicap Chase over two miles.

Either side of his 12-length Scone Park romp in late June he was operating over hurdles and now reverts to fences under regular partner Sean Quinlan.

Alan O’keeffe, partner and assistant to Candlish, said: “He enjoyed his last visit to Perth and did the job very well. He’s very consistent and was unlucky on a few occasions last winter – everything that’s beaten him has gone on to win more races.”
