£5k fines for festival drugs

Ten people have been fined a total of more than £5,000 for having drugs at the T in the Park rock music festival.

Festivalgo­ers who are aged between 16 and 62 admitted being in possession of drugs including cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis.

They answered charges at Perth Sheriff Court after travelling from as far away as Elgin and Cheshire.

Two teenagers died at this year’s festival, held at Strathalla­n Castle, apparently after taking drugs.

And a man who was found dead two days after the event was found to have illegal substances in his blood.
