Russian roulette?
I admit to being confused. A senior UK general, recently retired, tells us that Great Britain’s defences are now so withered that they would be unable to resist an attack by Russia.
I had thought that the billions of pounds we spent on nuclear weapons was intended to do just that, deter the Russians from attacking the UK.
Something seems wrong somewhere.

Edinburgh Nicola Sturgeon ought to realise that firing a peashooter at Westminster will have more impact at Westminster than the threat of a second referendum. – Goforitceltic Why would Brexit plunge Scotland’s economic future into uncertainty whilst the continued threat of an independence vote would not? Sturgeon really doesn’t do joined up thinking, she just demands, threatens and repeats the same tired mantra about independence and it’s all England’s fault. – Aristotle_2
Instead of swanning off to I feel like I’ve read this same article every day for weeks now. WE KNOW! We know you want independence to remain an option. WE KNOW! So get on with running Scotland effectively in the meantime please, because that’s the major bit of your jigsaw that is missing at the moment, Nicola Sturgeon. – smsfg25
