News that the Red Cross has described the disastrous NHS in England as facing a humanitarian crisis should put carping about Scottish health, education, train punctuality or policing into some sort of context.
By any yardstick, the performance of the Scottish Government is far superior to the previous Labour/ Lib Dem executive and miles better than in England under the Tories, Labour in Wales or in Northern Ireland who all, like us, now face unprecedented challenges to public services from savage ongoing Tory austerity cuts. No government gets everything right, but the SNP is getting on with the day job and providing better services by focusing on improving our health and education services year-onyear, building more affordable homes, increasing the living wage, extending child care, closing the educational attainment gap and extending community empowerment among other priorities.
£100 million of government spending on infrastructure has been brought forward to stimulate the economy and the number of registered businesses in Scotland in 2016 was the highest on record.
