- By EMMA NEWLANDS

Residential estate agency DJ Alexander is aiming to reach new heights with the appointment of a former Royal Air Force pilot to a new role.

Nick Maunder, who served in the RAF for 17 years and latterly trained novice pilots to fly Tornados, is becoming associate director of sales.

He was formerly chief operating officer at Edinburghbased Kal, which is focused on ATM software, and his other post-raf roles include establishing a children’s nursery business based in Elgin.

Maunder also held a senior position with Aberdeen-based Petrotechnics, which provides software support to oil companies and others working in potentially hazardous loca- tions. While he does not bring any experience of property to his new position, DJ Alexander MD David Alexander said Maunder “turned out to be exceptional in terms of ideas, attitude and drive, which was a key factor for us.

“In hiring personnel, as in everything else, estate agency firms increasingly need to think outside the box and we are confident that someone with Nick’s outlook will be a great asset for our business”.

Maunder said he “really can’t wait” to start his new role, stating that DJ Alexander, which was founded in 1982 and has offices in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, is “poised to take advantage of over 30 years of experience as we grow our residential sales division. We have some great ideas”. 0 Nick Maunder served in the Royal Air Force for 17 years
