Mceveley: We’ll learn from Rugby Park errors
ROSS COUNTY V MOTHERWELL
Ross County defender Jay Mceveley has vowed they will cut out the defensive errors and get their top-six push back on track against Motherwell.
County got into a winning position at Kilmarnock on Saturday despite falling behind after 10 seconds when Kris Boyd scored.
But they slipped out of the top half of the Premiership after going down 3-2 at Rugby Park. The unmarked Gary Dicker equalised following a corner and Sean Longstaff netted the winner after the visitors lost possession deep inside their own half.
Mceveley said: “All the goals are our own doing. It’s not quality from the opposition that has really killed us, it’s our own fault. And that’s something we have got to work on.
“We know we can work on it and eradicate those things, silly mistakes or lapses in concentration can be worked on.
“We know they won’t happen again. We will highlight them on video and never make the same mistake twice.
“It was a disappointing game on Saturday but we have a chance to put it right on Tuesday. If we win, everything is looking rosier.”
Elliott Frear aims to get up to speed quickly after sealing his move to Motherwell from English National League promotion hopefuls Forest Green Rovers.
The 26-year-old was thrown on for a debut against Rangers on Saturday as Motherwell chased an equaliser and hopes the introduction to the Ladbrokes Premiership helps him against Ross County.
“It was a good experience,” said the left-winger, who missed the last few games of his Rovers career through injury.
“The pace of the game was a lot different to what I’m used to. Hopefully I can get a few weeks’ training in me because I feel I am a little behind in terms of sharpness obviously, because I hadn’t played for three weeks. With a few more days’ training, I will be ready to go.”
