Some of Scotland’s leading tech and gaming companies are preparing to showcase their talents at two major international events taking place later this month – the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco and Mobile World Congress in Barcelona - thanks to help from Scottish Development International (SDI).
The Game Developers Conference on America’s west coast is the world’s largest professional event of its kind, while the Mobile World Congress is the biggest gathering for those working in the booming mobile sector.
Both events are taking place during the week of 27 February and will offer global companies an opportunity to meet the innovative Scottish businesses that are shaking up the tech and gaming world at home and abroad.
SDI, the international arm of Scotland’s enterprise agencies, offers significant financial incentives and other assistance to help establish and grow businesses.
Scottish attendees at Mobile World Congress will include Skyscanner – the global travel search site worth over $1 billion – purelifi, pioneers in a new method of wireless communication, and Connect-in, creators of Xupo, a wireless connected tag that helps keep track of any item via a smartphone.
The Scottish companies attending Game Developers Conference include Outplay, whose game Castle Creeps TD hit 1.5 million downloads in its first four days, Tag Games, which recently collaborated with Rovio on an Angry Birds pinballstyle game, and Yoyo Games, home of the Gamemaker line of tools, the fastest and easiest to use cross-platform games development technology.
“We are delighted to give these companies a platform to showcase Scottish innovation and expertise at these global events,” said Mark Newlands, international sector head for technology and engineering at SDI.
“We will support all of the attending companies to develop new business, to find partners and to be ambassadors for Scotland’s growing technology community.”
