apply. So, as I suspected at the time, the entire British Establishment was actively working against Scottish self determination.

FRASER GRANT Warrender Park Road, Edinburgh As we learn wards in Banff and Buchan voted by a 61 per cent majority to Leave the EU, do we hear their SNP MP, Eilidh Whiteford, even grudgingly representing the views of these, her constituents?

Dr Whiteford, like every SNP MP, seemingly unquestioningly regurgitates her party’s line, with the objective of using Brexit as a smokescreen for staging indyref2.

MARTIN REDFERN Royal Circus, Edinburgh Further to Martin Brennan, Liz Cameron et al’s letter about the reduction in Educational Maintenance Allowance, this is not the only area of youth education which is suffering. For over 30 years BLES Training (formerly Blackburn Local Employment Scheme) has offered those who have failed at school and who have particularly disadvantageous backgrounds the opportunity for training in life skills, literacy, numeracy, and apprenticeships in joinery and painting and decorating, with appropriate recognised qualifications. BLES Training may close this year due to insufficiency of funding. Young people will no longer be enabled to become contributing members of society and will remain state dependants throughout their lives, thus costing taxpayers much more than the cost of training.
