CITROEN REVEALS NEW C-AIRCROSS SUV CONCEPT

-

Citroen has revealed a new concept SUV based on the C3 launched earlier this year.

Dubbed the C-aircross, the Geneva-bound show car features guards surrounding the lower reaches of the bodywork, while the curved front takes much from the Airbump-covered C4 Cactus that arrived at the end of 2014.

The car also gets so-called ‘suicide’ doors, which open away from each other for better accessibility, while the cabin is dominated by a 12-inch touchscreen. There’s a single-spoke steering wheel, too, which harks back to Citroens of old, and driver-focused ‘head-up’ instrument displays designed to sit in the driver’s field of vision.

There’s no word on what propulsion the c-air crossuses ,but it’ s thought that the car will send its power to the front wheels. to give it a modicum of off-road capability, though, Citroen has equipped the car with its Grip Control traction system.

Built into the electronic stability program (ESP), the system offers five different drive modes to suit the terrain. The basic ‘Standard’ mode is designed for on-road use, while ‘Sand’ and ‘Snow’ modes adjust the system to cope with the unique levels of traction provided by each surface. There’s also an ‘Offroad’ setting to aid traction on muddy or wet surfaces and an ‘ESP Off’ setting that deactivates the anti-skid system at speeds of up to 50kph (31mph).

The Grip Control system isn’t the only on-board technology, though. Citroen has also fitted the C-aircross with side cameras, rather than rear view mirrors, as well as a central rear camera to give the driver a view of what lies behind the vehicle.

Inside, the car gets a 3D satellite navigation system, as well as separate climate control for each passenger and the Connected Cam seen on the C3, which can share photos and videos to social media.
