Back to fashion icon’s roots: Pringle’s latest show inspired by Highland traditions

At the Pringle of Scotland Autumn/winter 2017 show yesterday, the firm’s women’s design director, Fran Stringer, was the latest London Fashion Week designer to feature robust comfort clothing for next autumn. Her mind “stretched to the Scottish Highlands – in the days before kilts – when women wrapped themselves in heavy fabrics”.

That idea yielded off-kilter cashmere dresses, and cardigans that wrapped around the body like a “lover’s hug”. Stringer also looked to the Pringle archives, patching together mismatched argyle patterns into sweaters and long dresses.
