Livi aim for pitch perfect to move ten points clear

- By CRAIG P STEWART

League 1 leaders Livingston have the chance to go ten points clear by beating Albion Rovers tonight on their battle-scarred pitch at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

The Lions have seen recent games against the Coatbridge men and Stenhousemuir called off due to waterlogging.

Manager David Hopkin said: “Even when we have managed to get games played, it has been a difficult surface but the club have had extra people working on it, which is good, as we have this game and then one on Saturday.”

Hopkin added: “Rovers are a hard working side and Darren Young has done a great job there. There are no easy games in this league and it is often the side that makes the least mistakes that wins. We are doing better in that sense now as we have tightened up defensively and we will look to be the same in this game.”

Mickey Miller and Keaghan Jacobs remain out injured for Livingston.

Rovers manager Darren Young is looking for his side to ensure that they do not repeat the errors they made at both ends of the park in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at East Fife.

Young said: “We need an improved and an error-free performance to take anything from Livingston.”

Scott Mcbride is the only injury absentee for the Coatbridge side. Meanwhile, Berwick Rangers manager John Coughlin is looking for his side to defeat visitors Clyde tonight and keep themselves above the Bully Wee in the table.

Only a point separates the sides, and Coughlin said: “We have been too close to the bottom of the table for our liking already this season and I do not want us to be heading back that way. If we beat Clyde we move four points ahead of them and push ourselves further away from Edinburgh City and Cowdenbeath as well.”
