Mhor the merrier as festival returns with all-star female chef line-up for Feast

Perthshire-based event offers Scotland’s best artisan producers, top chefs, DJS and musicians over three days

Set amongst the stunning surroundin­gs of the Perthshire Highlands, a family-run festival which celebrates the best of Scottish food, theatre, music and dance will return to the banks of Loch Voil next month.

Running during the May Bank Holiday weekend (26-28 May), Mhor Festival will offer an all star line-up which includes Lorna Mcnee, Scottish Chef of the Year and Phil Kay, previous winner of British Comedy Award Best Live Stand Up. Run by Tom and Lisa Lewis and family, this year’s event will, for the first time ever, be hosting an all-star female chef line-up for the coveted Mhor Feast, which runs on the Friday (26 May).

Lorna Mcnee, Scottish Chef of the Year, will serve up her signature dish, alongside Rosie Healey of the famed Ottolenghi restaurant­s in London, “The Café Girls” of Café St Honore and Marysia Paskowska of Monachyle Mhor, who also each be serving a course. The Feast has a limited number of 100 tickets available. With previous events selling out within days, tickets for the five-course dinner are only available on a lottery basis. Across the weekend festival-goers will have access to a selection of Scotland’s best artisan producers including; L’art Du Vin wines, Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky and Great Glen Charcuteri­e.

Tom Lewis, Chef Proprietor of Monachyle Mhor and Co-founder of Mhor Festival, said: “Mhor festival is more than a food festival – it’s a great party with an excellent line-up of our favourite chefs, DJS and musicians. This year we’re excited to welcome sell-out recording artist, Ray Harris, Daft Funk and The Federation Of The Disco Pimp, winners of the Sunday Herald Cultural Awards ‘Best Live Performanc­e’ last year.”

New for this year, the festival will host Cinemor77, a mobile cinema housed in a yurt, equipped with cushions and beanbags for guests to enjoy a selection of independen­t films in comfort.

Described as a festival for all ages and tastes, the line-up also includes the traditiona­l raft race, aerial trapeze performanc­es, bread making workshops and baking competitio­ns, circus skills workshop, the omelette challenge, disco yoga, and much much more. Paul Bush OBE, director of events at Visitscotl­and, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Mhor Festival, in what promises to be a fantastic family event.”
