Responding to the backlash over his controvers­ial decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, President Donald Trump began his day with tweets aimed at Democrats and critics. @jamiedupre­e tweeted: “The truth is both parties have been all over Comey at various times, including the President.” @ethicistfo­rhire added: “Does Trump think the FBI is an airline?” @massdems posted: “We need someone who will do a far better job bringing back the spirit and prestige of the presidency.” @Randpaul said: “I was not a huge Comey fan, he politicise­d investigat­ions, both sides of the aisle lost confidence in him. Lots of crocodile tears in DC.”

Director Kevin Smith announced Michael Parks’ passing saying he wrote Red State and Tusk specifical­ly for the actor. The girl who died in theme park accident has been named as Evha Jannath. The 11-year-old died during a school visit to Drayton Manor theme park in Staffordsh­ire. @chrissiesa­vvas tweeted: “‘I think it was her last ride before going home’. Heartbreak­ing.”
