The Cleveland Cavaliers are one win away from a third straight NBA finals appearance after beating the Boston Celtics 112-99 in game four. Kyrie Irving’s 42 points helped Cleveland overturn a 10-point half-time deficit to take a 3-1 series lead. The Cavaliers outscored Boston 40-23 in the third quarter, with Irving scoring 21 of his side’s points. Lebron James added 34 points for Cleveland, who can seal a third successive Eastern Conference championsh­ip with victory in Boston tonight. ICE HOCKEY

The Ottawa Senators kept alive their hopes of reaching the Stanley Cup final with a 2-1 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Facing eliminatio­n, the Senators recovered from Evgeni Malkin’s opener to secure a home win in game six of the Eastern Conference final. Pittsburgh’s Malkin gave the defending champions a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute of the second period but Bobby Ryan levelled during a five-on-three powerplay. Mike Hoffman gave Ottawa the lead a minute and 34 seconds into the third period and goaltender Craig Anderson, who made 45 saves, helped them cling on. The teams go to Pittsburgh for tonight’s game seven, with the winner facing the Nashville Predators in the Stanley Cup final.

TENNIS

Tara Moore’s hopes of making the first round of next week’s French Open were ended by a straight-sets defeat to Kai-chen Chang. The British No 4, ranked 145th in the world, went down 6-2 7-5 in her qualifying match on the clay at Roland Garros. Hong Kong-born Moore, who was given a wildcard to last year’s Wimbledon, lost the opening three games on her way to surrenderi­ng the first set in just over half an hour. She rallied to take a 3-0 lead in the second before Taiwan’s Chang battled back to win on her fourth match point.
