Two people injured and horse killed in road crash
A horse was killed and two people, including a 13-yearold girl, were seriously injured aftertwovehiclescrashedinto each other on a major road in West Dunbartonshire.
The incident occurred on the A82 between Duck Bay and Stoneymollan roundabout in Alexandria on Wednesday.
A Land Rover Defender towing a horse trailer was heading south when a Land Rover Discovery going in the opposite direction appeared to lose control and crossed the carriageway, colliding with the other vehicle.
The woman driving the Defender was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance in a serious condition. A 13-year-old female passenger in the other vehicle was also to taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries while the 59-year-old driver was uninjured.
The horse travelling in the trailer died at the scene.
Inspector Adam Mckenzie, from the divisional road policing unit based at Dumbarton, said: “This was a very serious road crash and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to please get in touch.
“If you were on the A82 around the time of the incident and may have seen either of the vehicles involved driving on the road, you may be able to assist with our inquiries.”
