Man dies after being hit by car towing a trailer

A 22-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in Angus.

The incident happened on Coronation Avenue, Montrose, at 8:15pm on Sunday.

Emergency services were called after the man was hit by a Land Rover towing a trailer.

He was taken to Ninewells Hospital, but later died.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Inquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Tayside Division on 101.”

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

Meanwhile, two people in their 50s were killed in a twovehicle crash in Dumfries and Galloway.

The collision happened at around 1:15pm on the A76 road near Sanquhar on Sunday.

It involved a black Land Rover Freelander and a Harley Davidson motorbike near the road leading to Kellofoot Cottages.

A 58-year-old male rider and 56-year-old female passenger on the motorcycle were killed. The man driving the SUV and four passengers on board were uninjured.

That accident came just less than 12 hours after a 29-yearold man died having been struck by a Vauxhall Movano van heading west on the A83 near Inveraray, Argyll.

The 34-year-old van driver was not injured.
