White van man accused of reading at wheel

A van driver is to face trial accused of driving along a motorway while looking at a piece of paper.

Lukasz Chudy’s actions at the wheel are said to have caused his 2004 white Ford Transit panel to “swerve repeatedly” between the hard shoulder and the central lines of the carriagewayofthem9nearstirling.

At the city’s sheriff court yesterday Chudy, 32, of Lanark, pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving, and having no insurance.

Summary sheriff James Macdonald continued the case for trial on 8 June, with a preliminary hearing two days earlier.
