Distant energy
If Lesley Riddoch had actually taken the trouble to read the Conservative manifesto she might have noticed that while, happily for those of us living on the mainland, it draws a line under wind development there, continued support is proposed for the Scottish islands (Perspective, 29 May).
Whether it is sensible to make consumers pay subsidies for generating electricity as far away as possible from where it is most required is, of course, a different question.
Hopefully another manifesto commitment, an independent review of energy costs, will provide the answer to this.
