Old, but new

-

Blawlowan House, a listed historic home in Bridge of Allan, is unusually being sold by new homes developer, Cala Homes (West).

The period house was the focal point for seven houses built in its grounds, but is tucked away in privacy, away from the new properties and Stirling University, which it also borders.

Blawlowan, which dates back at least 200 years, has been used by the builder as a sales suite for the Pathfoot Loan development, so its public rooms are in top notch decorative order having been refurbished by Cala, while the outer reaches of the house are a blank canvas.

It has a drawing room, library and dining room, a dining kitchen and utility plus garages and log store on the ground floor.

Upstairs, over two floors, are six bedrooms plus a study and two bathrooms.

Surrounded by gardens of nearly an acre, parts of Blawlowan House date back to at least 1731, with the remainder classically Georgian.

The house is backed by the Mine Wood creating a fantastic backdrop to the sloping garden which has a summer house, log store and a leanto and a small burn with bridge as well as the original dog kennels.

What is more, Cala Homes is offering a part exchange deal, which makes for an unusual offer on a period home. Offers over £550,000, contact Savills on 0131 247 3738.
