Davidson wants a May U- turn on votes at 16
Ruth Davidson has pledged to lobby Prime Minister Theresa May for a “U- turn” on votes for 16- and 17- year- olds.
Th e ol d e r te e n a g e gr o u p is allowed to vote in S cottish elections, including the 2014 in d e p e n d e n c e re f e r e n d u m and local elections, but won’t have t he vote i n next week’s general election.
Ms Davidson told BBC Scotl and’s Ask t he Leaders pro - gramme last night that she has lobbied for change UK- wide.
“I wa ss c e p t i c a l an d t h e n the Scottish referendum happ en e d an d I ’m a co m p l e t e co n v e r t , ” th e Sc o t t i s h Tor y leader said. Asked if she wants to see “another famous U- turn” from Mrs May on the issue, Ms Davidson said: “I’m working on it – watch this space.”
