Grove in European action
Some of Scotland’s top sides are in action this weekend in European Hockey Federation events, writes Craig Madden.
Grove Menziesh ill, who were third in the first division, are in the second- tier Trophy in the Russian city of Elektrostal and play today against Austrian side Navax AHTC Wien. They f ace another Austriansid eS V Arminen and Paolo Bonomi from Italy in their other pool matches. Menzieshill need to finish as high as possible to ensure champions Bromac Kelburne retain a place in the top-flight Euro league and perhaps earn a second spot for Scotland.
Grove are also in the women’s Trophy competition in Munich, while champions Edinburgh Universityare in Vienna for the fourth- tier Challenge II tournament.
Meanwhile, Scotland women’ s head coach Gordon Shepherd has made four changes to his squad of 18 for the World League semi- finals in Brussels later this month. Goalkeeper Amy Gibson return store place Watsonians’ Lucy Camlin. The Grove Menzieshill trio of Nicola Skrastin, Katie Rob - ertson and Sarah Jamieson arepreferred to B ex Condie, Heather Howie and the injured Jen Eadie.
