Dueling guitars in the battle of the photo ops

- By TOM PETERKIN

“Watch out Proclaimers” tweeted Nicola Sturgeon when she strummed along with Mhairi Black on another frenetic day of photo opportunities.

Only those who witnessed Ms Sturgeon’s guitar duet with the candidate for Paisley and Renfrewshire South will know how tuneful their jam session was.

But regardless of its musical merit, it was perhaps the most eye-catching image on a day that also saw the SNP leader play the recorder, blow bubbles and drink beer (although not at the same time). Today Ms Sturgeon will take to helicopter in a bid to campaign in 30 key constituencies between now and Thursday’s vote.

Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson was photographed eating an ice-cream while out campaigning in Moray with the local candidate.

Labour politicians may not share Ms Davidson’s politics, but Kezia Dugdale showed they at least have a sweet tooth in common. Ms Dugdale, Scottish Labour leader indulged herself at Edward and Irwyn Chocolatiers in Edinburgh.

And Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie used a “3-D visualisation” of the state of the election to illustrate the seats where his party has a chance of beating the SNP.
