ELECTION DIARY
Fans of Saltires, lion rampants, kilts, homemade placards and general Yes campaign paraphernalia living in the Glasgow area are in for a treat as today sees another large-scale pro-independence march through the streets of a Scotland’s largest city.
The online activist group All Under One Banner has organised what it hopes will be its biggest event to date, with around 8,000 people expected to gather at Kelvingrove Park at 11am before marching to Glasgow Green. A similar event last summer saw around 5,000 attendees.
While its political rivals have accused the SNP of trying to downplay the prospect of indyref2, it’s safe to assume the vast majority of those marching today would prefer to see a referendum as soon as possible. Like Sunday afternoon, for example.
Meanwhile, viewers of the BBC Breakfast show yesterday may have spotted something unusual.
No, not the sight of Scottish politicians being interviewed al fresco in Dunfermline – but the sight of a man dressed as Robert the Bruce lurking in the background.
Has the medieval king risen from his grave in Dunfermline Abbey in time to cast his vote?
