- By PERRY GOURLEY

Catering firm Sodexo has secured a £5.7 million contract extension with Aberdeen Football Club.

The deal will see Sodexo continue to provide catering services on match days at Pittodrie Stadium, operate the café and public retail units over the next three years. It will also operate all conference and banqueting events at the club.

The contract builds on a 23-year relationship between Sodexo and the club which was the French firm’s first stadium client in the UK and Ireland.

Pittodrie’s capacity of 20,866 makes it the largest football stadium in Scotland outside of the Central Belt.

In addition to hosting home matches for Aberdeen FC, it has held a number of Scottish international matches and occasional rugby union games.

Sodexo, which employs around 34,000 people, also provides services to many offshore operators from its base in Aberdeen.
