Timeline: Armed police on scene within minutes

Police shot and killed the three attackers eight minutes after arriving at the scene. Here’s how the terrorist attack unfolded: Saturday, 10:07pm: Ambulances were called to reports of a vehicle ploughing into pedestrian son london bridge, arriving within six minutes. 10:08pm: Police were also called to the scene. Officers then attended a second incident at nearby Borough Market after reports of stabbings. 10:16pm: Three male suspects shot dead in Borough Market by police. The men were wearing what looked like explosive vests but these were later found to be fakes. Yesterday, 12:25am: Both incidents were declared to be terrorist attacks by the Metropolit­an Police. Shortly before 4am: Police confirm six people were killed in the attacks. Shortly before 10am: Metropolit­an Police Commission­er Cressida Dick confirms death toll has risen to seven. 10:35am: After chairing a meeting of the government’s Cobra emergency committee, Prime Minister Theresa May said the UK was experienci­ng a “new trend in the threat we face as terrorism breeds terrorism”. 1pm: Police said that 12 people had been arrested after a raid on a house in Barking, east London.
