Van driver dies in collision with car

A van driver has died following a two-vehicle collision crash in Aberdeenshire.

The incident happened on the A96, half a mile west of Pitcaple, Inverurie, at around 3:30pm yesterday.

Police Scotland said the man driving the red Renault Master van died at the scene. The male driver of the other vehicle, a white Honda Jazz car, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

Officers said the road was likely to remain closed for some time to allow investigations to take place.
