Judge in Bill Cosby trial warns jury

The judge in Bill Cosby’s sexual assault trial has opened proceeding­s by warning the jury not to read news updates about the case on their phones.

The 79-year-old is accused of giving university employee Andrea Constand drugs and then sexually assaulting her in 2004, in the only criminal case to emerge from dozens of allegation­s lodged against the actor.

The jury for the trial, which began yesterday in Norristown, Philadelph­ia, is sequestere­d at a nearby hotel for the duration of the two-week case.
