Wadsworth ‘victim of untrue claims’
A former BBC radio presenter charged with sex offences against underage boys is the victim of “poisonous and untrue” allegations, her barrister has told a court.
In the defence closing speech for Julie Wadsworth, 60, her QC accused the prosecution of launching a cheap attempt to paint her client as a “salacious and predatory” public figure.
Mrs Wadsworth and her husband Tony, who also worked as a BBC presenter, deny offences of outraging public decency and indecent assault alleged to have been committed in the 1990s.
Mr Wadsworth’s counsel denied the couple’s actions could be likened to a “seedy Soho club”.
The trial continues on Tuesday. 0 Julie and Tony Wadsworth have denied all the claims
