Wotherspoon stands down as chairman

-

Tom Wotherspoon’s two-year spell at Airdrie, during which full-time football returned to the Diamonds, is at an end after he resigned as both the chairman and a director of the League 1 club

Wotherspoon became the majority shareholder in the summer of 2015 and oversaw several managerial changes with Gary Bollan, Eddie Wolecki-black, Danny Lennon, Kevin Mcbride and Mark Wilson all taking charge. Wilson guided Airdrie to the promotion play-offs last month where they lost to Alloa.

Work pressures appear to be behind Wotherspoon’s decision. He said: “I have decided to hand the reins back to Jim Ballantyne and would stress that to continue the work that has gone before everyone must get behind the club vocally and financially.”
